Youth Advocates For Peace Justice And Empowerment Network (YAPJEN) has called on both Anambra State and Federal Governments to immortalise Chief Donatus Ejidike for his giant strides in promoting and unifying Nigerians through sports.
The group described Chief Donatus Ejidike as a pillar of sports and worthy role model to the Nigerian Youths whose life of selfless service to humanity is worthy of emulation.
In a statement issued by its President, Amb Timothy Nwachukwu, YAPJEN urged the government at both levels to name a National Sports monument in his honour.
He decried the attitude of the Nigerian State in honouring great men who had devoted greater part of their lives to the service of motherland after their demise.
He said, “High Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike, Nigeria’s Pillar of Sports is a unifier and an uncommon Patriotic Nigerian who not only believes in the Nigerian Project but has continued to use the instrument of Sports to unite Nigerians.
“High Chief Ejidike is a great Nigerian Patriotic who has continued to pay his dues in sports and youth development in Nigeria and therefore, deserves a National Honour by the Federal Government of Nigeria for his commitment to the Nigerian Project through the instrumentality of sports.
“We call on the Anambra State Government as well as the Federal Government of Nigeria to immortalise Chief Donatus Ejidike by naming a National Sports monument in his honour for his giant strides in promoting and unifying Nigerians through Sports.”
Amb. Nwachukwu urged Chief Ejidike to remain undaunted in his commitment to making Nigeria a better place, assuring him that posterity and the younger generation would never forget his labour of love for the benefit of the nation.
He prayed God to grant him long life and good health so as to continue to impact lives and humanity at large.
