With the recent occurrences in Nigerian, especially in the Southeast, one would think that majority of the stakeholders from the region are staunchly in support of balkanization of Nigeria. Onitshagra.com was surprised to learn that most successful men and women from the region are actually clamoring for peace and dialogue…and even for the unity of Nigeria. In this brief interview with Chief Samuel Mmaduabuchukwu Anichebe, a business mogul and philanthropist, the ever-busy CEO of EGOSAMEX GLOBAL INVESTMENT COMPANY LTD shed light on why highly successful people like him support peace.
Kindly introduce yourself to Nigerians.
My name is Chief Samuel Mmaduabuchukwu Anichebe. I am a native of Ojoto in Idemili South local government area of Anambra State. I’m a businessman. I deal on electricals.
Many people in Nigeria seem to be threatening violence and war. Why did you decide to embrace IPAN that preaches peace and unity?
I did not only embrace IPAN but joined the group because I am a progressive Igbo man. IPAN is a socio-cultural organization that is progressive inside out. IPAN from what I have keenly identified believes strongly in the tenet of democracy, one Nigeria, and Unity in diversity. These three core aims, objectives of IPAN are what I crave as a person and as a progressive Nigerian. I also like the fact that they’re fighting for the development of the South East. As an upwardly mobile trader with business tentacles spread across the width and breadth of Nigeria, I have concluded that the unity of Nigeria or unity in diversity is a prerequisite condition before a legitimate trade flourish across the ethnic boundaries of Nigeria. I’m with any group that abhors violence and advocates peace.
Tell us about your business.
I’m into Electrical equipment. Any equipment that has to do with the distribution of power, electricity is my major trading concern…from the smallest item in the distribution chains of electricity to the biggest equipment. Even though our headquarter is located in Onitsha, we supply all over Nigeria and Africa.
What message do you have for the people that preach violence?
Violence does not settle any contentious issues, rather it escalates it beyond peaceful arbitration and settlement. Dialogue remains the only standard means of settling vexatious matters amicably, especially between the governed and the government or amongst tribes of the same nation. Taking to violence, destruction of life and public properties, or bellicosity, or challenging constituted authorities arbitrarily does not settle any issue.
What message do you have for young business people aspiring to be successful like you?
My message to them is…easy does it. They must not be faster than their shadows. They must know that the get-rich-quick syndrome that is prevalent amongst our youths now sends many to their early graves. More so, I will advise our youths to always engage themselves in legitimate businesses as that is the only avenue for everlasting peace of mind and better life.
Finally, I will like to express my warm appreciation to the President of IPAN worldwide for finding my modest-self worthy for a high-profile organization such as IPAN. Thank you Mr. Lawrence Onuzulike for your kind recognition. God bless you, Sir.
Thanks for speaking with onitshagra.com
It’s my pleasure.
