We're being overwhelmed by erosion - NYSC begs Willie Obiano

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Anambra State has raised the alarm over threatening gully erosion at the permanent Orientation Camp in Umuawulu/Mbaukwu in Awka South local government area of the state.

The State Coordinator, Mr. Kehinde Aremu stated this on Friday during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2021 Batch A stream 2 corp members.

He regretted that the environment was being overwhelmed by erosion, urging Governor Willie Obiano to expedite actions on completing the camp landscaping.

He further iinformed the corps members that their leadership qualities would be tested during the service year, charging them to be in their best behavior and portray good national value while discharging their duties to the nation.

Earlier, Governor Willie Obiano advised  corp members to take advantage of the entrepreneurship skills to be taught them during the orientation programme.

He encouraged them to also imbibe the success of their predecessors and to equip themselves with the training modules towards self employment and ultimately becoming employers of labor.

“The NYSC scheme has done well in mitigating the challenges confronting the nation in critical areas of national needs especially in sectors like education, health, agriculture and infrastructure,” he said.

A total of 2000 corps members were administered with Oath of allegiance by the state Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Onochie Anyachebelu ably represented by Hon Justice Okey Onunkwo.
