It is the end of life for little miss Kosisochukwu Oko who was murdered in cold blood by her Madam and the beginning of battle for freedom for Mrs. Mmesoma Okafor who has been charged for murder and is now awaiting trial in police cell.
Mrs. Mmesoma allegedly hit the head of 10 years old Kosisochukwu on an iron window protector before hitting her head again with an iron rod which resulted in her eventual death.
It is alleged that since the incident, efforts have been made by Mrs. Mmesoma and her friends to gag witnesses from reporting the matter to the police or testifying against her.
Since the incident happened in February 2021, Mrs. Mmesoma was not charged until March 2021 which took the effort of a rights group known as Behind Bars.
Speaking on the matter, Director General of the group, Harrison Gwamnisu said,
“I don’t know how we did it, with our collective voice we followed up to make sure the Police charge Mmesoma Okafor to court for murder.
“Be informed that we rejected 2 million naira offer to back off this case.
“Madam Mmesoma is now in prison custody for the murder of her 10-year-old maid.
“To Mmesoma committee of friends who are going round threatening our volunteers, please read the charge and see how little Kosi was murdered by your beloved friend.
“By hitting her head on iron window protector and striking her head with a rod which caused her death.
“We at Behind Bars family will follow till the end and make sure justice is served.

Next adjourned date for the case is 28th April, 2021.
