The reality of gambling addiction and its devastating effects was brought to the fore recently after one Emmanuel Chigozie Eze betted online with a whooping sum of N20 million.
Chigozie Eze was eventually arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, after the anti-Corruption institution was formerly invited to investigate the matter.
Until the ugly incident, Chigozie was the Head of Sales of Procter and Gamble, makers of Ariel Detergent, Pampers, Head and Shoulder Shampoo, Lemon Plus Candy, Blue Vicks Candy, and many other popular consumables.
Chigozie used his position as Head of Sales to siphon the said amount with which he played online betting. He is alleged to be so addicted to gambling that he stakes as much as N4 million per day.
