The immediate past governor of Imo State and serving senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Rochas Okorocha, has been arrested and detained by the Imo State police headquarters, onitshagra.com reporting.
Okorocha was arrested because he led some of his supporters to unseal an estate owned by his wife which the Imo State government had confiscated as part of government’s efforts to recover supposedly stolen government assets.
The philanthropist had gone with some of his supporters to the property and broken the keys used in locking the premise it. They however met resistance from the supporters of the incumbent governor. This resulted in the destruction of property and injury of persons.
The property, Royal Palm Spring Hotels And Apartments located at Akachi Owerri, was sealed on Friday by the Imo State government led by Governor Hope Uzodinma.
