Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency on Tuesday disclosed that it supported 62 poor communities and 17 vulnerable groups across the 12 focal local governments with over N1,400,000,000 to complete 250 micro projects in the state as at September 2020.
Chairman Board of Directors of the Agency, Igwe Rowland Odegbo, made the disclosure in Awka, at the Public Presentation of the Achievements of Community and Social Development Project- Additional Financing (CSDP-AF) by the State Government.
He said the agency, a World Bank Assisted project used the amount to implement and complete 250 micro projects across the state.
He said, “The agency through the assistance of the state government supported no fewer than 62 poor communities as well as 17 vulnerable groups in the state.
“The micro projects to the communities spread across keys sectors of education, health, water and transportation while power, environment and socio-economic sectors were among the micro projects to the people.”
While stressing that the agency’s mandate was to implement world Bank Assisted Community and Social Development Project -Additional Financing (CSDP- AF), the monarch revealed that the interventions had benefited about 2, 579, 440 individuals in the state within two years of existence.
Commissioner for Economic planning, Budget and Development Partners, Mr. Mark Okoye, said the project was targeted at promoting people -centric development interventions.
“The project is a paradigm shift that metamorphosed into the famous community choose your project initiative of the Willie Obiano administration,” he said.
In his congratulating message, Governor Willie Obiano said the Agency’s scorecard indicated that it had performed well, saying, “it is a good and complimentary thing to the state government having invested a lot in support of the project.”
Represented by the Head of Service, Barr. Harry Udu, Obiano expressed optimism of continued availability of funds for the project to ensure continuity of development of the state.
