The commander allegedly led members of the proscribed Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB, to attack the home of the executive governor of Imo State in the early hours of Saturday 24th April, 2021, killing several people and burning the house and several expensive vehicles packed in the premises, one of which was a Rolls Royce.

In response to the attacks, a joint team of police, army and SSS were deployed after the criminals. They were however met with serious gun battle as they approached the operational base of IPOB in a remote Village in Awomama, Orlu East LGA of Imo State.

But they subdued the hoodlums with a superior fire power, neutralizing several of them, including their South-East regional commander, popularly known as Ikonso. Ikonso was also addressed as vice president designate.

The armed forces team also recovered 6 AK47 rifles, bullet proof vests, countless live a munitions and charms.

The group was responsible for attacking a correctional center in Imo State, Imo State Police Headquarters and other police stations in Imo State and other South-Eastern states.
