Acting Chief Medical Director, Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) Nnewi, Anambra State, Dr. Joseph Ugboaja has assured the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the state of management’s continued support to actualise its healthcare goals.
Ugboaja stated this while reacting to the request by the state NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Yetunde Baderinwa during a courtesy call on him in his office.
He assured the scheme of timely handling of referral cases when the need arises, pledging to partner the scheme in reaching out to indegent members of the communities.
“We promise to assign doctors to work with corps doctors as well as assist in donating drugs to run the camp clinic. All we need from you is to carry us along by informing us early enough on possible areas our assistances are required,” he added.
Earlier, the NYSC boss, Baderinwa said her visit to the hospital was to appreciate the management, to request for doctors to provide assistance and supervisory roles in clinics during orientation camps as well as be part of the NYSC Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD).
Baderinwa who was also at the state Command of the Federal Road safety Corps (FRSC), appreciated the Corps for their numerous contributions, soliciting for continuity.
The Sector commander, Adeoye Irelewuyi had lauded the NYSC role as catalysts in youths development and nation building, pledging to maintain usual standard of integrating corps members into the Road Safety Community Development Service (CDS) and during their Primary Assignment.
He informed the NYSC boss of one of its activities scheduled for the ember months to be organised for officers from other establishments aimed at reorienting them on safety measures on highways, urging the staff to be part of it.
