Two persons, including a woman and a baby girl lost their lives while nine others sustained varying degrees of injury in a ghastly accident along Ihialla-Onitsha road, Uli, Anambra State.
The crash which occurred on Sunday evening, involved Nissan Caravan commercial bus, with twelve persons on board.
According to an eye witness, the bus driver lost control as a result of tyre burst and crashed.
The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Adeoye Irelewuyi confirmed the incident, attributing the crash to tyre burst, adding that the corpse of the dead victims have been deposited at the mogue.
He sympathized with the deceased family, urged motoring public to ensure their vehicles are in good condition before hitting the road.
He said, “A Fatal Crash occurred at Uli by Ihialla-Onitsha road today 12th September, 2021 at about 1235hours.
“The crash involved one vehicle, a Nissan Caravan bus, commercial with registration number: ACA 989 ZW belonging to ONYEMAECHI Transport Company.
“The probable cause of the crash was attributed to tyre burst. 12 people, 5 male adults, 5 female adults, 1 male child, and 1 female child were involved in the crash.
“9 casualties, including 3 male adults, 5 female adults, and 1 female child sustained varies degrees of injuries.
2 comprising 1 female adult and one female child were killed.
“The injured victims were rushed to Nnadi hospital, and Infant Jesus hospital Ihialla, by FRSC personnel where 1 female adult and 1 female child were confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
“The corpse of the dead victims were deposited at Ark Angels Mortuary Ihialla. FRSC personnel on ground managed the traffic, and cleared all obstruction.
“Traffic rules and regulations must be maintained always.”
