More than 24 hours after gunmen attacked a school in Katsina and forcefully took away many students, 333 of them are still missing. This was disclosed by the governor and chief security officer of the state, His Excellency, Governor Aminu Massari.
This is the situation despite the efforts of the police and the armed forces to rescue the kidnapped students. Although, about 200 of them have been rescued, Nigerians continue to express outrage over the incident.
ONITSHA GRA further gathered that the kidnappers invaded the school in large numbers riding on motorcycles. On seeing them, many of the students ran into nearby bushes to hide and had since been coming out of the bushes in trickles. Based on this, both parents, the school authorities and the State government are hopeful that some of the missing 333 may still be hiding in the bushes and will emerge with time.
Before the incident, the school had a total student’s population of about 840 students.
