The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has accused Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, of supporting terrorists against state residents due to the alleged promise of a 2023 vice-presidential ticket.
IPOB in a statement on Tuesday by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful said the Governor was protecting some Fulani terrorists from prosecution and warned of the consequences of such action.
Powerful said the governor ordered the arrest of some innocent residents simply because they exposed and confronted ‘foreign terrorists’ in Ebonyi state.
The statement read in part, “We the Indigenous People of Biafra wish to warn Gov Umahi against the grave implications of his actions. Declaring law abiding citizens wanted simply because they exposed and confronted foreign terrorists in Ebonyi State is worse than terrorism itself.
“It only goes to show that Umahi and other eastern politicians know more about the incessant killings, rapes and other atrocities in Ebonyi communities by Fulani herdsmen and terrorists than they are willing to admit.
“It is the height of foolery that Gov Dave Umahi will support foreign terrorist herdsmen against his own people that voted for him. Does Dave Umahi not know that our mothers for years now have been afraid of going to their farms for fear of being raped by Fulani terrorists and other evil activities of Miyetti Allah?”
Previously, we reported that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has vowed to teach Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi a lesson in politics after he dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The PDP in a statement by its acting Caretaker Committee Chairman in Ebonyi State, Fred Udogu said Umahi only dumped PDP for APC verbally but has failed to resign his membership officially.
He further alleged that the Governor wants to be hobnobbing between the two parties but he won’t be allowed to have his way.
To prevent this, Udogu said the PDP in Ebonyi state will audit the list of registered members and permanently delete the Governor’s name from its register.
