Residents of Oyo state and Nigerians across the nation have reacted with shock to the tragic incident that occurred on Wednesday 7th April 2021.
Late Ahmed Mutiat and Saka lived in Shogoye, Oyo State, with their six children. Trouble started when Mutiat told Saka that she was going to quit the marriage due to yet to be ascertained reasons. This didn’t go down well with Saka who threatened to kill her should she quit the marriage.
The tension in the home reached climax when Saka set their home ablaze while his family slept, killing himself, his wife and two of their six children.
Four of the children were rescued with various degrees of injuries.
The two children that died in the fire were seven years old Abiodu and tens years old Ramon.
The survivors are Lateef, Bisola, Wosilat and Aishat.
The incident was reported to the nearest police station at about 5am by one of the victims’ neighbors identified as Olaide Aliu.
The police has since evacuated the remains of the deceased and taken the injured to a hospital for attention while investigations are still ongoing.
