Managing Director of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), and a strong contender for the forthcoming Anambra State governorship election, Dr George Moghalu said he has devised plans to put Anambra State in an unprecedented economic prosperity.
Moghalu, who is vast experienced in public and private sector, stated this while speaking at his campaign office in Awka, adding that he has plans to bring about total economic transformation in Anambra State.
He said, “Trading, agriculture and manufacturing, as we know, are among the mainstays of our State’s economy; will receive their highly deserved attention in this project. It is a project that will catalyze and thrive private investments in the State to leverage on the business environment in tackling unemployment and economic inequality.
“It is our determination to have a focused and qualitative government that will create a robust public-private sector partnership, which is fundamental to the creation of enduring economic development.”
On flooding in the riverine areas of the State cum hardship borne by the farmers, Moghalu noted that as the Managing Director of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), he has started facilitating the drainage of River Niger, not only to enhance delivery of containers at Onitsha port, but also alleviate sufferings and untold losses farmers in the state incessantly record due to flood.
“In this project, farmers will be producing in season and out of season,” he added.
Former National Auditor of the ruling APC emphasized that his administration will identify education, healthcare delivery, food sufficiency, clean and healthy environment, security, and infrastructure renaissance, as his abiding articles of faith for the people of Anambra State.
The amiable former NIGCOSAT boss spotted deficiency in social infrastructure as one of the reasons for economic hardship in Anambra State, and promised a state of emergency in that sector.
