The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Anambra State has expressed its preparedness to partner with private companies, including organizing training programmes for drivers of articulated vehicles targeted at safe motoring environment.
Sector Commander, Mr Adeoye Irelewuyi stated this on Tuesday during a courtesy visit to the Managing Director, WINCO Foam, Dr Godwin Okafor, at the company’s factory in Awka, stressing that FRSC mandate remained reduction of road crashes on nation’s highways.
He noted that the business of safety was a collective responsibility which should not be left for government alone, soliciting for the company’s support in ensuring safe roads in the State.
Explaining the relationship between safe roads and the economy, the FRSC boss argued that “when the roads are safe, there is minimal loss of life and resources.”
He thanked management for its collaboration with the agency, expressing optimism for more partnership.
Irelewuyi also commended the quality of WINCO Foam including the pocket friendly price of the product and marveled that such is produced in Nigeria which he described as nation filled with potentials.
Responding, Managing Director, Dr Okafor appreciated the FRSC for the visit, appealing for assistance to the firm in the area of easy movement of goods from its factories to various destinations.
He disclosed that the company has three factories in Abuja, Lagos and Anambra State, pledging its support to FRSC in ensuring safer roads.
Presentation of a plaque by the FRSC to the MD of WINCO Foam formed the highpoint of the visit.
