Director, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), South East Area Office, Alhaji Ahmed Wada Ikaka has advised corps members to eschew ethnic and geographic sentiments in the course of their national service.
Ikaka who gave the advice during his visit to Anambra state Orientation Camp, Umuawulu/Mbaukwu in Awka South Local Government Area of the state, insisted they should rather adopt nationalistic attitude.
Ikaka said the service was meant to create the atmosphere for corps members to relate with their colleagues outside their geographical zones.
He said, “The whole idea of the one-year national service is to enable you relate well with people outside your ethnic and geographic zones which will ultimately give offer you the necessary exposure that will make you great future leaders.
“A clear understanding of this arrangement makes seeking for relocation unnecessary.”
He further admonished the corps members to give the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurial Development (SAED) training the priority it deserved, which he said would assist them become self-employed.
Appreciating the corps members and camp officials for the warm welcome and for the uniqueness of the camp, the NYSC boss also advised them to take their personal security seriously.
