The Enugu Electricity Distribution PLC (EEDC) has attributed loss of supply being experienced in parts of its network to the recent heavy rain and windstorm.
The Head, Corporate Communications, EEDC, Emeka Ezeh who stated this in a statement, said the heavy storm which occurred in parts of Anambra and Imo, Abia and Enugu States, destroyed electrical installations within the affected areas, thereby subjecting customers to power outage.
He regretted that the situation which led to loss of several High Tension (HT) and Low Tension (LT) poles, aluminum conductors as well as other line accessories, resulted in power outage affecting most of its 33KV and 11KV feeders.
The said, “These incidents have put our feeders out on fault, and as a result, we are not able to provide supply to our customers in the affected areas.
“The Management has equally assured its customers that it has evaluated the extent of damages and is already liaising with its suppliers to enable its technical team carry out repairs and restore the affected customers.
“We appeal for understanding of our customers, while we work at addressing the identified challenges and restore power supply to our customers that were affected by this mishap.
“We regret the inconvenience this situation has caused our customers and assure them that supply will be gradually restored as repairs are completed.”
