Covid-19: Have Nigerian Scientists Discovered The Cure?

Nigeria may have discovered a cure for Covid-19. This was disclosed on Tuesday by Mr Laolu Akande, the media aide to the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.

Mr Laolu said that a team of science professors known as IVERCOVID who carried a research for Covid-19 cure have formally presented their findings to the vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.

Their key findings were that an old drug used in the treatment of onchocerciasis (river blindness) and was also used to fight SARS is effective in the treatment of Covid-19. They established that at a certain dosage, the drug can cure Covid-19 in less than seven days.

The group led by a Principal Investigator, Professor Femi Babalola, and the Chief Medical Director of Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Professor Chris Bode, and made up of distinguished professors from the USA and Nigeria, stated in their report that similar research has been carried out by a renowned scientist in the UK, and by several other countries around the world, with the same result. They also said that they have submitted samples of the drug to National Agency For Food And Drugs Administration Control (NAFDAC) as part of due process for certifying the drug safe and effective for the treatment of Covid-19.
