The Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Awka, Anambra State has pledged its commitment to collaborate with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) towards better and more rewarding relationship especially in the area of health services.
The Chief Medical Director, Dr Joe Akabuike made the pledge while playing host to the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs Yetunde Baderinwa and her team at his office on Friday.
He assured his preparedness to partner the Scheme in the quarterly Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD) as well as to sensitize corps members on issues bodering on health at the orientation camp.
The CMD who took the NYSC boss on a tour of the facility also declared his readiness to improve on the already cordial relationship through rendering of treatment to corps members on emergency.
Earlier, Baderinwa expressed gratitude to the COOUTH helmsman for the cooperation the Scheme had enjoyed with the hospital, particularly in time of her predecessors.
She explained that the visit, besides familiarizing with the CMD was to solicit the treatment of corps members, whom she noted were on National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) pending the time payment was made.
On the NYSC Coordinator’s team were Head Press and Public Relations, Mrs Anuli Molokwu, Head, Corps Discipline and Reward, Mrs Okeke- Ekpe Ngozi, Head, Corps Welfare and Health Services, Mrs Kwazu Ethel and Local Government Inspector, Awka South, Mr Ezeobia Onyekachi.
