Arsenal’s Coach Mikel Arteta Given Three-Match Ultimatum To Save Job

Mikel Arteta could reportedly be sacked as Gunners boss before Christmas as Arsenal chiefs have given him three matches to save his job.

Arteta endured a tough start to the season with Arsenal down in 15th in the Premier League having lost six of their 11 matches this term.

Another defeat this weekend, to Burnley, could see the Gunners end the weekend just four points outside the relegation zone – a situation sure to further ramp up the pressure on Arteta.

And, according to Calciomercato, Arteta must start picking up results quickly as he has only three league games to save his job.

Three days after Sunday’s visit of Burnley Arsenal host Southampton, before visiting Everton next Saturday for what could be Arteta’s final match in charge of the Gunners should the defeats continue.

The report adds that Arsenal are already assessing possible candidates to succeed Arteta in the dugout, with ex-Juventus chief Massimiliano Allegri a top target.

Allegri remains out of work having departed Juve a year-and-a-half ago, but his talents are undeniable having won four successive doubles in charge of the Italian giants, also adding a fifth Serie A title in his final season.

Despite the report claiming Arteta has three games to save his job, talkSPORT pundit Troy Deeney believes Arsenal could swing the axe on their boss as early as this weekend.

“Arsenal are in trouble,” said the Watford striker earlier this week. “I’m happy for them that they are at home, but if they were playing Burnley away this week I’d be very nervous for them.

“I think he [Arteta] has to come under criticism, ultimately because of where they are.

“For me, and I’ll go out on a limb here, if they lose [to Burnley] he is massively under pressure.

“I’d be surprised, but if they lose and the ones around them win, and they are looking more backwards than upwards, he would be under pressure to keep his job.”
