South East APC Young Progressives forum has called for the release of Rev Father Mbaka with immediate effect.
The group condemned the act, describing it as totally unnecessary and unacceptable to the youths of South East irrespective of party affiliations.
National Cordinator, Comrade Paschal Candle, in a statement, said the controversial cleric had not done anything that would require his arrest nor detention.
He absolved President Mohammadu Buhari, the APC and his group from being responsible for the ugly development, warning that the group would not take it lightly if anything untoward happened to him
The statement read, “Mbaka was last seen on Tuesday and efforts to locate him had failed. We have it on good authority that his aides have neither seen nor heard from him since Tuesday.
“Calls put to his mobile line have also remained unanswered; this has now prompted us to issue this alarm as we would not take it lightly should anything untoward happens to him.
“We are calling on Mr President, the Federal Government and security agencies to ensure his immediate release from whoever that is holding him captive within 48 hours.
“We want to make it clear to All Nigerians and Ndi Igbo at Large that Mr President, our Party and the Progressives Youths of All Progressives Congress in South East are not part of this development.
“That is why We are soliciting the help of Mr President to rescue Father Mbaka. We’re also calling our fellow Youths, most Catholic Youths Organisation in Enugu State not to take laws into their hands as the Group will do its best to make sure Father Mbaka returns home safely.
“Let us be calm and be law abiding citizens. Let nothing happen to Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka. It will not be in anybody’s interest.
The group further called on Buhari to be wary of some over zealous persons, who are out there to do the bidding of some disgruntled elements in the country.
