The All Progressives Congress (APC)
in Anambra state has appealled to party faithful and various supporting groups to avoid comments capable of heating up the polity.
The state party Secretary, Comrade Chukwuma Agufugo gave the advice while addressing APC Ambassadors group at the party office in Awka, the state capital.
APC Ambassadors are group of positive men and women including youths from the 21 Local Government Areas of the state who came together to form alliance with the aim of door to door campaign and sensitization of the electorates on the need to allow the party produce the next governor of the state.
Agufugo enjoined the group to embark on grassroots sensitization of the public on the need to identify with the ongoing registration exercise at various political wards.
“The leadership of the party in the state will support the Ambassadors to achieve their goals as long as you always make your activities known to the executives in order to be carried along,” he added.
The Coordinator of the APC Ambassadors, Comrade Moses Afum while adressing members, said the political group was duly registered and recognized by the national Secretariat of the party.
He said the group’s target was to galvanize support and membership for the party with a view of winning the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
He said, “We have strong plans already on ground to wrestle power from the incumbent party in the state. We want someone who is conversant with the grassroots, a governor who will provide basic and social amenities to the people.
“APC Ambassadors will do assessment of all the aspirants and take a stand with the best that will carry the party flag for the election and eventually win in November 2021.
“Our aim is to ensure that the party produce the next governor of the state.
We are not depending on any aspirant as all of them have our support and prayers till one person emerges as the flag bearer.
“We will continue to respect the rules of the party and will support whoever that emerges the winner of the primary election.”
Spokesperson of the group, Comrade John Dunu said contrary to speculations by rival parties, the APC was not a Northern party, but had the interest of the entire nation at heart irrespective of zone or geographical locations.
He said the meeting had helped the members to air their views and identify lapses which they all agreed on way forward for the overall interest of the party.
He regretted that successive politicians had deceived the people with promises of water and electricity without fulfilling any, calling on the people to be steadfast and look out for a leader who would guarantee health, education and employment for the teeming youths.
“Some of the people always lookout for what they will get immediately without considering the future which is paramount please be accountable and canvass for votes in your wards.
“We will embark on door to door sensitization and campaign to make the people understand the chances they stand to get if APC government takes over Anambra state,” he added.
