Indigenes and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Amesi community in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State have endorsed the governorship aspiration of Mr. Valentine Ozigbo.
The people of the community gave the endorsement at a town hall meeting held at the Amesi residence of Ichie Sunday Ezeobiora, Chairman of Sunchi Farms and a top member of the VCO Campaign Organisation.
Addressing the large crowd, Ichie Ezeobiora said Ozigbo’s candidacy has come at the right time, as Anambra deserves a home-grown leader who understands the plight of the masses and has garnered enough corporate and administrative exposure to reverse the fortunes of the state.
“The people of Amesi must see this as an opportunity to ensure that their son and brother becomes the next governor and be part of the process that ushers in a new dawn for Anambra State,” he said.
Also speaking, first woman Speaker in Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Eucharia Azodo urged the PDP in the town to do away with bickering and divisions, which would derail the party from the goal of ensuring victory for the PDP at the polls.
Hon Azodo, a two-time member of the Federal House of Representatives, also thanked Mr Ozigbo for his reconciliatory efforts in uniting the party in the Amesi, Aguata LGA, and other parts of Anambra, which have yielded positive results.
In his remarks, Chairman of the PDP in Aguata, Chief Sunny Umenne, noted that the people of Amesi were lucky to have someone with the calibre of Valentine Ozigbo.
“Ozigbo’s track record of excellence and quality service delivery stands him out from all the other aspirants in the field. Anambra State is far from realising its vast potentials, and only purposeful, result-oriented leadership, which Ozigbo embodies, will see the state reach its expected heights,” he stressed.
A prominent stakeholder in Aguata PDP, Chief Andy Azike, enumerated Ozigbo’s qualities, including proper skill set, competence, character, capital and human resource management skills to lead the state to greatness.
“A closer look at Ozigbo’s track record shows a trailblazing pattern of excellence, an indication of his ability to govern a state like Anambra. These rare virtues which stood him out, convinced me to join the #KaAnambraChawapu movement.
On his part, Chairman of the PDP in Amesi Ward, Nze Afam Okpalauzuegbu, remarked that Mr Ozigbo has made him proud as a brother and his unique style of politics.
“It is up to all of us to take the #KaAnambraChawapu message to our friends, family, colleagues in other parts of the state. With the quality and character of Mr Val, Anambra will be in safe hands,” he said.
Reacting to the endorsement, Ozigbo said that he was humbled, delighted, and inspired by the overwhelming support of his people.
“It is usually said that a prophet is not honoured in his own home, but my case is the exact opposite. The people of Amesi have been integral to the propagation of the Ka Anambra Chawapu message. I am immensely grateful for this support and do not take it for granted,” Ozigbo remarked.
“The task before us is clear; we have a choice between a continuation of the status quo or chance to tread a new path and create a sustainable roadmap for the continuous development of Anambra State,” the respected business leader added.
Ozigbo, who is the immediate past President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc, said the support of his people was a testament that he was doing the right thing, as many other aspirants could not boast of that luxury.
He revealed that he was gaining increasing acceptability, both at the grassroots and within the PDP, which is an indication of the confidence reposed on him and his ability to deliver.
The globally celebrated Kaizen Champion further submitted that Anambra is in dire need of a trusted Chief Executive capable of managing the resources and industrious people of the state, and he believes he has the requisite know-how to improve the fortunes of Ndi Anambra.
A community leader, John Ogbudike (Pana), said Ozigbo’s entrance into politics was divine and marked his first active participation in politics in over two decades, praying and wishing him success at the polls.
