Three persons sustained varying degrees of injury in a motor accident at the Amawbia flyover in Awka, Anambra state.
The crash which occurred around 5.05pm, involved Mercedes Benz Tipper and a pickup Hijet Ash colour.
An eyewitness blamed the crash on the tipper driver who he said lost control while on speed and rammed into the pickup.
Confirming the incident, Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Adeoye Irelewuyi said no death was recorded.
He said, “Unidentified driver of purple coloured Mercedes Benz Tipper with registration number AJI 285 YQ had a serious road traffic crash with unidentified driver of a pickup Hijet Ash colour with registration number NSH171YJ at Amawbia flyover by Emma Pet filing station today 29th July, 2021 at about 1705hrs.
“Five male adults were involved in the crash. Three of the male adults sustained varying degrees of injury and was rushed to unidentified hospital by some good Samaritans before the arrival of FRSC rescue team from Awka Sector Command.
“Rescue team on ground managing the traffic and ensuring obstruction caused by the crash is removed.”
While praying for quick recovery of the injured, the FRSC boss warned motorist especially truck drivers to avoid speeding and ensure they kept to recommend speed limit.
