Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra State on Sunday disclosed that a total of 2998 permanent driver’s licence across motor licencesing offices were yet to be collected in the state.
The Sector Commander Corps Commander, Adeoye Irelewuyi who dropped the hint during a radio program, frowned at some motorist who processed their drivers licence and never bothered to go back to Motor licencing Office to collect their permanent drivers licence.
He warned that the Command would not tolerate unlicensed drivers, announcing a fine of N10,000 or six months imprisonment or both for defaulters.
“We have about 2998 uncollected permanent driver’s licence across motor licencesing offices in the State.
“The Command will not tolerate unlicensed drivers because of the danger it portends. Defaulters run the risk of being fined N10,000 or six mouth in prisonment or both,” he added.
Irelewuyi adviced driver’s with temporary drivers license to visit the Motor licencing Office where they did their biometric capture and collect their permanent drivers licence.
He further disclosed that the Sector Command would commence “Operation show your driver’s license” today (Monday), targeted at addressing high incidence of driving without valid drivers license in the state.
